My Background
I began learning the Bagpipes at the age of 10 after my grandfather had requested that one of his grandchildren play the pipes. My Mother asked if I'd like to learn and the rest as they say is history.

I've played for the City of Dunedin Boys' Pipe Band, The City of Dunedin Highland Pipe Band and The RSA Taieri Pipe Band.

Not being competitive by nature, the "band scene' wasn't for me.
However in 2005 I was asked to join a band that was heading to Canada to perform at the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo in HaIifax. I readily accepted because this band was a Celtic rock "fusion" band, mixing sounds created with bagpipes, guitars, keyboards, drums, singers and incorporating Scottish / Maori / Pacific Island culture. We were invited to play at the Hamburg Police Show and a Military Tattoo in Germany the following year.
This mix suited me perfectly and I realised the Bagpipe can be treated just like any other instrument in a band.

Now in 2023 I've joined band called Highland Storm. Check out our Facebook page and if you like what you see, maybe we can play at your next big event!
